The Intellectual Youth Club (IYC) was established in the year of 2001 under the Student Development Division, S-DEV of the International Islamic University Malaysia (presently known as the Student Affairs and Development Division, STADD). The late Rector of IIUM, Professor Tan Sri Dr Mohd Kamal Hassan rahimahuLlah, during the officiating ceremony exclaimed;

"IYC is the first child of IIUM,"

Such statement was uttered as the establishment of IYC is none other for knowledge and knowledge only. Now, after two decades of Budaya Ilmu, IYC strives to achieve her vision and mission; none other to bring forth the agenda of Budaya Ilmu or the Culture of Knowledge, fulfilling her duty as a collective of men who are servants and caliphs to the Rabb al-'Alamin.
